Classes
If you have reserved one of our shop machines to use in class, please also bring the following:
- Machine needle appropriate for your class. Please take your needle home with you at the end of class.
- Thread - Please use only good quality thread in our machines. We prefer Mettler or Aurifil for piecing. No WalMart thread or cotton-covered polyester, please.
- We will provide you with one bobbin for use in class. If you prefer to buy your own, we also sell the bobbins here.
- If your class starts at the same time that we open, we will let you into the shop ten minutes before class time.
- In consideration of other students and employees with allergies, please limit your use of scented personal products when attending one of our classes.
- If your class requires a sewing machine, please be sure that you are familiar with its operation, it is in good working order, and bring your manual along to class just in case!
Cancellation policy: If the class minimum is not met within seven days prior to the class, it may be cancelled and you will be notified and will receive a full refund. Please keep this possibility in mind when you purchase supplies for your
class. No refunds of class fees will be given if student cancels within the one week prior to class.
Our Class Registration policies are as follows; please read before signing up for a class:
- Class fees are due within one week of signing up for a class. If we do not receive payment within a week, you will be moved to the waiting list (and may lose your spot). If you register by phone, you can pay by coming into the shop or mailing a check; we cannot take credit cards over the phone for class fees.
- If the class minimum is not met within seven days prior to the class, it may be cancelled; you will be notified, and a refund will be issued. Please keep this possibility in mind when you purchase supplies for your class.
- No refund of class fees will be given later than one week prior to the class (unless WE cancel the class).
- If your class requires a sewing machine, please be sure that you are familiar with its operation, it is in good working order, and bring along the manual just in case!
- If you would like to reserve one of our machines to use for a class, they are available for a small fee, but you MUST reserve them in advance, when you sign up for the class.
If you don't know how to use a sewing machine at all, take our Learn to Sew - Pillowcases! Class.
Inclement Weather Policy
The decision to close QA is not dependent on whether the local schools are closed; it is made independently based on weather conditions. If QA is closed due to bad weather, it will be posted on the shop's home page and recorded on the shop's voice mail. If in doubt, please call before coming. The decision to cancel classes will be made no later than two hours before class and we will make every attempt to contact students.
